Selecting a Values-based MAT
One of the greatest challenges for schools who want to join a MAT is preserving their ethos and autonomy. MAT structures prohibit schools from leaving a MAT even where the MAT has changed is policies or failed to honour its pre-joining commitments. MATs that have expressed a commitment to Values-based Education can arrange for an independent assessment. A MAT that has been independently verified as practising VbE becomes a VbE MAT.
